"The
orchestra sounded its best here...Jonathan Girard made the
projection of solo lines his number one priority, keeping
the symphonic backing under the violin/viola pair while still
allowing the accompaniment to delineate a compelling personality."
From "The Daily News Tribune" November

"The new maestro's intensity of resolve was evident in the orchestra's
style from the very beginning of the program. In the opening
strains of Beethoven's 'Coriolon Overture,' Girard
pulled a menacing growl from the first unison C of the piece,
before deftly leading the orchestra through the overture's alternating
lyrical and tempestuous themes, moving the common melodic motifs
from the strings to the winds and back with precision and interpretive
consistency. "
